FAQ

1) What file types do you accept for DTF orders?

We accept professional print-ready formats designed for clean output. In most cases, you can submit PNG (preferred for transparency) or PDF for high-quality artwork. We also support AI and EPS for vector-based designs.
Best practice: If your artwork includes transparency, fine edges, or layered elements, a high-resolution PNG with a transparent background is usually the most reliable option. If you’re submitting a multi-artboard file, make sure it’s clearly organized so each design is easy to identify.

2) What resolution should my artwork be for the best results?

For sharp prints, your artwork should be high resolution—especially when it includes small text, thin lines, or detailed shapes.
Why it matters: Low-resolution images can appear blurry, pixelated, or rough around edges once printed.
What to do: If you’re unsure whether your file is high enough quality, submit it and we’ll flag obvious issues (like severe pixelation or sizing problems) before it becomes a production problem. For best results, avoid screenshots, social media images, or artwork pulled from the web.

3) Do I need a transparent background?

If your design is not meant to have a solid box around it, then yes—you should use a transparent background.
PNG is typically the easiest format for this.
Common mistake: Sending artwork with a white background that blends into the design preview but prints as a visible rectangle.
Recommendation: If the artwork is intended to be placed directly on fabric, transparency is strongly recommended unless you specifically want a background shape.

4) Can I upload multiple designs in one order or one sheet?

Yes. ONYX DTF is designed for production workflows, so you can submit multiple designs as long as they’re organized clearly.
Best results come from:

  • Clear naming (Design-1, Design-2, etc.)

  • Consistent sizing notes

  • Clean spacing between designs
If you’re building a gang sheet, it’s ideal to keep similar print types together and avoid crowding tiny text too tightly.

5) How do I choose the correct print size for my design?

Print sizing should be based on the final placement and the garment type. A design that looks great on a hoodie may feel oversized on a youth tee, and a left-chest logo needs different proportions than a full front graphic.
Sizing tips:

  • Measure the print area on the garment before ordering

  • Consider the wearer size range if printing for teams or bulk orders

  • Avoid scaling up low-resolution artwork to “make it bigger” (quality drops fast)
If you already know the exact width and height you want, include it when submitting the file.

6) What’s the best way to prevent mistakes with artwork and sizing?

The fastest way to avoid production issues is to follow a simple checklist:

  • Submit high-resolution artwork

  • Use transparent backgrounds when needed

  • Double-check the final size you want

  • Keep text readable (tiny text can be risky on textured fabric)

  • Avoid ultra-thin lines that may not hold detail at small sizes
If you’re ordering for resale or client production, we recommend building a repeatable sizing standard (left chest, full front, sleeve, etc.) and sticking to it.

7) Do you check files before printing?

We focus on production consistency and catching obvious issues that can cause bad results—like severe pixelation, incorrect backgrounds, or problematic sizing requests.
Important: Customers are responsible for providing print-ready artwork. We do not recreate designs or redesign customer files as part of standard ordering.
If something looks clearly wrong, we’ll flag it—because the goal is smooth production, fewer delays, and clean output.

8) What garments can I apply DTF transfers to?

DTF transfers are highly versatile and can be applied to many common garment types. For best results, use clean, smooth fabric surfaces and follow proper pressing technique.
Common compatible items include:

  • Cotton tees and blends

  • Hoodies and sweatshirts

  • Performance-style apparel (when pressed correctly)

  • Tote bags and similar fabric goods
Key to success: Proper heat, pressure, and finishing steps matter just as much as the transfer quality.

9) How should I press and care for garments after application?

Proper pressing is critical for durability and professional feel. For best results:

  • Pre-press the garment to remove moisture and wrinkles

  • Apply with steady pressure and consistent heat

  • Follow the correct peel method for the film type

  • Finish with a final press to seal the print and improve feel
For garment care, encourage customers to wash inside out, avoid harsh heat, and treat prints like premium decorated apparel. Proper application + proper care = long-lasting results.

10) Do you offer wholesale accounts for print shops and resellers?

Yes. ONYX DTF supports both retail customers and wholesale/B2B customers. Wholesale access is intended for:

  • Print shops and decorators

  • Apparel brands producing at scale

  • Resellers managing multiple client orders
Wholesale accounts typically require approval so we can keep the process clean, protect production flow, and provide the right account access features (like order history and streamlined reordering).
